Kijun-sen (Base Line)
Definition
The same midpoint over the last 26 candles. The slow line, read as the balance point of the trend; a flat Kijun means the 26-candle range is not changing.
Example
Say a stock’s highest high over the last 26 candles is $62.00 and its lowest low is $54.00, so the Kijun-sen sits at $58.00. With price at $60.50 and the faster Tenkan-sen at $60.00, both are above the Kijun, the usual Ichimoku picture of an uptrend. A pullback to $58.00 would bring price back to the middle of the 26-candle range, its balance point.
Hypothetical numbers, for illustration only.
