Options trading
0DTE options
Definition
0DTE means zero days to expiration: options traded on the day they expire. Their prices react very quickly to moves in the underlying. Our 0DTE options guide explains the risks.
Example
Say an index ETF trades at $500 an hour before the close, and a $501 call expiring today costs $0.40, or $40 per contract. If the ETF reaches $502 within 30 minutes, the call might be worth about $1.15; if the ETF ends the day below $501, the call expires worthless and the $40 is gone. A $2 move in a $500 fund, just 0.4%, separates those outcomes.
